Record cold night ahead

Good evening, folks. Wow! This was one of the worst winter storms to ever hit our region. Record amounts of snow will soon give way to record cold as we head into Thursday night. Lexington’s record low for March is minus 2, and we could break that Friday morning.

A deep snowpack and clearing skies will allow for temps top drop below freezing. Some of the coldest air ever recorded in March will be possible Friday night:

GFS 5In order to get that cold, the skies must be clear.

In the longer run, things are looking much better into the middle and end of next week. 60s?

GFS TEMPS 1Take care.
