Storm chances increase this weekend

Good Friday to one and all. We’ve had quite the fall weather ride across Central and Eastern Kentucky. This is among the cooler weeks you will ever find around here in August. Things look to change a bit this weeken,d with the warmer air and some showers and storms.

Highs Friday will still be very nice, with highs in the upper 70s to near 80. This sets the stage for another great evening for high school football fans:

FootballSaturday will find highs in the low and middle 80s, with more humidity and some isolated showers and storms. The storm threat will increase Sunday as juice from the tropics tries to shoot in here.

The weather for next week looks warmer, but the overall pattern will be dictated by what happens with Tropical Storm Erika. Here’s the latest storm track from the National Hurricane Center:

Will that system have any direct impact on our weather? That remains to be seen, but these types of storms usually have an indirect impact.
