Good Monday and Happy Labor Day. It’s another hot day in the bluegrass state as September is off and running with one of the hottest first week of the month on record. If you’re sick and tired of the heat, hang in there… Fall looks to score a knockout punch to summer late this week.
Temps today will be around 90 with a mix of sun and clouds. Isolated showers and storms will also be possible:

Similar conditions will be noted on Tuesday as we await a cold front moving in by Wednesday. Showers and thunderstorms will increase during this time and rain chances will then carry us through Thursday and Friday. That’s when low pressure develops and works across the region.
MUCH cooler air then works in here on Friday and really settles in over the weekend. Highs may struggle to get into the low and middle 70s:
Several computer forecast models suggest overnight lows by Saturday or Sunday dropping into the 40s!
That would be pretty incredible to go from where we are now to seeing numbers that chilly. Think about the past few weeks of weather. We were flirting with record lows during the last week of August. September then brings some heat that would make July proud, and now we could be seeing the numbers flipping back to chilly for a few days.
Extreme is the new normal.
Have a great and safe Labor Day and take care.
