Active weather pattern takes shape

Good Sunday, everyone. We’re rolling our way into the final few days of September and our overall weather pattern is looking pretty active. This setup should really kick it up a notch as we head into early October.

Let’s start with today and roll forward. Temps will hit the mid and upper 70s for most areas with a mix of sun and clouds. Isolated showers and thunderstorms may develop as the day wears on.

Humidity levels will rise on Monday as moisture increases from the deep south. That could lead to a scattered shower or thunderstorm developing into the afternoon and evening. The NAM is certainly heading in that direction:

Scattered showers and storms could become much more common on Tuesday as tropical moisture lifts northward from the Gulf of Mexico. Throw in a cold front dropping in from the north and you can get an increase in the action:

That system then works up the east coast by late this week into the weekend with cooler than normal air moving back in:

Another system could approach the region from the west and northwest by that time:

Euro 2

The overall pattern likely feature some big dips in the jet stream into the first few weeks of October. Some early season shots of very chilly air are possible in that setup.

Have a great Sunday and take care.
