Better weather follows the freeze

Good Sunday to one and all. We can officially close the book on the growing season across central and eastern Kentucky. Temps hit the 20s in many areas this morning giving our region the first freeze of the season. This is about two weeks earlier than normal, but hang in there, better weather is on the way.

In the short-term, today looks great with partly sunny skies and temps still on the chilly side. Here’s the forecast for the bluegrass state:

Lexington metro forecastTemps will be back in the upper 20s and low 30s by Monday morning. Afternoon highs begin to climb as we hit the mid and upper 60s.

That climb continues into the week ahead. Readings should spike into the 70s for highs by the middle of the week:

EuropeanThis looks like a heck of a run of awesome fall weather across our part of the world. The timing on this couldn’t be better as our fall colors are now kicking into high gear! My advice… get out and enjoy it!

Changes are lurking for later in the weekend into early next week. That’s when a cold front inches our way with the potential for some Gulf of Mexico getting involved.

Make it a great Sunday and take care.
