Good Thursday to one and all. After a brush with some snowflakes, a seasonal brand of cold is back in the Bluegrass State. This chilly air will be around into Friday before things look better by the weekend.
Highs Thursday will struggle into the low 40s with a mix of sun and clouds. The partly sunny skies take control Friday and last into the weekend, with highs in the upper 40s and low 50s.
Another slow-moving storm system is likely to affect our region by Monday and Tuesday. That’s when a big upper-level low works right on top of us. That should give us more chilly rain, with the chance of some snowflakes trying to mix in.
Let’s take a look a little farther down the weather road into the middle of the month. The overall progression of the pattern should gradually allow for more winter weather.
A big ridge of high pressure continues to keep much of the country on the mild side for this time of year. That ridge then gets booted northward into Canada. As that happens, dips in the jet stream start to show up across the country.
