Watching a weekend storm system

Good Wednesday to one and all. Another fast-moving system is working across the region and is touching off some light showers. I’m tracking that and a much bigger storm on the way for the weekend. That bad boy is the focus of the forecast.

Wednesday’s action is rather scattered, but I have you all set to track whatever shows up:

The system coming in over the weekend has a lot of wild weather with it. Here’s a breakdown of what might head our way:

– Near-record high temps on a strong southerly wind flow Saturday into early Sunday.

– Rain and a few strong storms increase from west to east Sunday.

– High winds will be possible Sunday and Monday.

– Temps crash Monday, and there’s an outside shot of a snowflake or two.

This is the storm system responsible for the above wildness:

EuroI will continue to keep you up to date on that system as we inch closer to the weekend.

Looking a little farther down the road, we find the models taking on much more of a winter look across the country. Look at the dips in the jet stream showing up on the GFS:

GFS 3That really deepens as we inch toward Christmas:

GFS 4That would certainly be interesting, if the models are correct. I guess we will all find out together.

Make it a great day and take care.
