Good Thursday, everyone. We have a serious surge of warm air heading into the Bluegrass State over the next several days. This warm air could smash record highs by Saturday and Sunday.
Between now and then, it’s still pretty darn mild. Highs Thursdday will be near 60, with a mix of sun and clouds. More clouds will be here Friday as highs reach 60 to 65 in many areas.
Highs of 70 are possible both Saturday and Sunday. Here are the record highs for those dates in Lexington:
Saturday: 68 in 1873
Sunday: 70 in 1927
We have a chance to eclipse both of those records.
This warm air is ahead of a potent storm system working into the region from the west. This low crosses over our region late Sunday and Monday:
Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph will be possible during this time. Strong thunderstorms will be possible as this system works across the region. Temps drop quickly as the low passes by to our north and northeast.
Another system moves in by next Wednesday and Thursday. This one might have more of a wintertime air mass coming in behind it:
Make it a great Thursday and take care.
