From a hard freeze to heavy rain

Good Sunday to one and all. Our winter-like weekend has featured a lot of wicked stuff for this time of year. High winds, a hard freeze, accumulating snows, Thundersnow and thundersleet. I warned you a few weeks ago that things would get ugly around here!

Where do we go from here? Let’s roll with it…

Our Sunday starts with a hard freeze with readings in the middle 20s for many. Afternoon readings should surge into the low 60s for many. Winds and clouds will increase this afternoon ahead of a storm system rolling in from the west.

Showers will scoot in here this evening and really ramp up late tonight into Monday and carry us into early Tuesday. A few rumbles of thunder should join the mix. Heavy rains of an inch or two will be possible. Here’s the GFS rain forecast:

You can track the progress of today’s weather with your daily dose of toys:

Colder air will then spread in here late Monday and last through the middle of the week. Temps on Tuesday will be near 50 for a high, and that sets us up for another below freezing night. Upper 20s will be possible again by Wednesday morning.

Temps should warm by the end of the week, but we will have to watch a slow-moving system across the southeast:

If that does stay away, readings may warm to near 70 degrees by Friday and Saturday. I’ll take it!

Enjoy your Sunday and take care.
