Storms lead to cooler days

Good Thursday to one and all. Stormy skies are back in the region and look to carry us into the weekend. As thunderstorms continue to flare up, the overall temperature trend is set to go the opposite way. We have some cool days ahead of us.

It’s not so cool out there Thursday, as highs are back in the muggy 80- to 85-degree range. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be noted across the entire region, with some heavy downpours a likely bet.

I have you all set to do some tracking:

Friday looks as if scattered storms will continue, with the greatest threat across the south. Highs from the upper 70s to low 80s look likely.

Storm chances really increase over the weekend as a bigger push of cooler air surges in:

Heavy rains through Sunday are a likely bet. The GFS is pretty amped up:

Highs this weekend will be in the middle 70s, and it could get even cooler by early next week. That’s when a deeper trough digs in from the north.
