Tracking the severe weather threat

Good Thursday, everyone. It is shaping up to be another bumpy weather day across Central and Eastern Kentucky. Strong to severe thunderstorms will target the region into Thursday night. Damaging wind and large hail will be the main players from the storms.

Ahead of this action, gusty winds and warm temps kick in. Gusts could reach 40 mph at times as highs hit the mid and upper 70s in most areas. Isolated storms can’t be ruled out, but much of the daylight hours look dry.

The storms coming in Thursday evening will be the ones to watch. Damaging wind and large hail will be the main threat, with a much smaller tornado risk.

Leftover showers and storms will stick around into Friday as cooler winds blow. All of this clears out by the weekend, with highs in the 60s on Saturday and the low 70s by Sunday.
