Good Monday to one and all. Spring break week is off and running with showers and storms working back into the region. This begins a very ugly weather period, featuring rounds of storms giving way to the chance for some snowflakes.
It’s not going to rain all day Monday, but any storm that goes up can be strong or locally severe. The best chance for that is across our southern counties:
Showers and storms will move away early Tuesday with a warm southwesterly wind continuing. That’s ahead of a potent storm moving into the Ohio Valley on Wednesday. Look at the winds around this system:
Showers and storms developing ahead of that can easily bring some of those strong winds down to where we live. That’s something for us to keep a close eye on as we get into the middle of the week.
Much colder air then surges in behind that storm for Thursday and Friday. Wraparound rain and snow showers will be possible:
Highs for Thursday and Friday should range from the upper 30s to the low 40s. That doesn’t bode well for the opening day of the spring meet at Keeneland.
Much better weather returns by the weekend, with highs in the 60s on Saturday and 70s by Sunday. We could hit 80 one week from today.
Never a dull moment around here.
Make it a great Monday and take care.
