Looking Beyond Memorial Day

Good Monday to one and all. On this day we honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for this awesome country, we also mark the unofficial kickoff to summer. Unofficial is the key word here, as the pattern still doesn’t have the full blown summer look or feel.

Highs today will be in the upper 70s in many areas with mainly dry skies. I can’t rule out an isolated shower or storm going up.

This same setup is with s over the next few days, before things turn a little active by the end of the week into the coming weekend. That’s when another dip in the jet stream shows up across the region:

The rainfall forecast from the GFS for the next week and change shows the active thunderstorm setup:

This overall wetter than normal setup is likely to carry us into the start of Summer, and maybe through the summer. The GFS Ensembles for the next two weeks show a lot of action across the east:

The more things change, the more they stay the same. At this point in the year, it’s hard to imagine this pattern changing much as we roll into summer.

Have a great day and take care.
