Good Sunday to one and all. After a gorgeous stretch of weather, we have some pretty good thunderstorms ready to take over as we wrap up the weekend. The action will really pick up this evening into Monday, delivering heavy rainfall to the region.
Storms are rather scattered early today, but will become widespread by evening. That takes us into early Monday:
Given the nature of this setup, these storms may pack a ton of lightning and torrential rains. Some areas may pick up 1″-3″ of rain during this time:
We will have to keep a close eye on the potential for flash flooding, especially in those areas who have picked up a lot of rain over the past few weeks.
Storms will slowly move away Monday with cooler air moving in. Highs should be in the low 70s on Tuesday and may not get to 70 by Wednesday. Check out the numbers from the GFS:
That cool air could come with some clouds and scattered showers. While not as cool, Thursday through next weekend should average below normal across much of our region.
Make it a sensational Sunday and take care.
