A booming Fourth of July for some parts of the state

Good Tuesday and happy Fourth of July! Our big day is looking to be a little stormy for parts of the state. A slow-moving system is bringing showers and storms into the region as it moves from west to east.

It might be a good idea to have a Plan B for those outdoor activities.

Tuesday’s storms will ahead of a small low pressure system. This low will work across southern Kentucky, with the most likely storm chances along and south of Interstate 64. Some pretty substantial rain totals might be observed with this, causing some local problems.

Track away:

Another area of low pressure will work from west to east across the state from Wednesday through Friday. This will cause additional showers and thunderstorms to develop in our part of the woods. As with Tuesday, any storm that comes along might put down some very heavy rain totals. I can’t rule out a strong storm or two.

Much cooler air then slides in for the weekend into next week:

That should dry us out as temps go back to the comfortable range for a few days.

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July! Take care.
