Good Tuesday, folks. If you’re a fan of true summertime heat and humidity, we have the forecast for you. The hottest air of the summer is settling in and will develop into a short-lived heat wave that takes us into the weekend.
Tuesday will feature highs from 85 to 90 in most of Central and Eastern Kentucky. I can’t rule out a pop-up shower or storm during the afternoon:
Here are some heat-wave notes:
- The hottest days will be Wednesday through Saturday.
- Daytime highs will range from 90 to 95, with a few spots in the middle 90s on any given day.
- Humidity will send our heat index values into the danger category by Friday and Saturday. It could feel about 105 degrees on these days.
- Nighttime lows will drop only into the stuffy mid- and upper 70s.
The pattern does turn stormy again by late this weekend and early next week. This is ahead of a big flip in the pattern, with cooler-than-normal temps taking control across the eastern part of the country.
The CFS shows a rather cool five-day period to end July:
Make it a great Tuesday and take care.
