Good Wednesday , everyone. I’m tracking a potent storm system taking aim at the region over the next few days. This will bring the potential for severe storms and heavy rain, with a taste of early fall temps coming in behind it.
Let’s start with today and roll forward. Highs will surge into the middle and upper 80s on a gusty southwest wind. A few storms may develop later this afternoon into the evening and a few could be strong in the north:

A system like that can easily produce severe storms and local flash flooding across our part of the world. The Storm Prediction Center has much of the region in the risk area for Thursday:
Showers and storms continue into Friday with highs generally in the upper 70s. Winds become northwesterly, ushering in even cooler air for Saturday. Lows in the 50s look likely with highs in the mid and upper 70s:
