Better weather starts the weekend

Good Friday to one and all. We have a cold front pressing across the state, bringing a much better brand of air into town to start the weekend. What about the rest of the weekend and into the big solar eclipse day?

Let me begin with Friday. Highs will range from 80 to 85, with some early-morning showers and storms hanging around the east:

Humidity will decrease in the afternoon as skies become mostly sunny. This will make for perfect¬†weather to kick off the high school football season. Here’s the forecast for Friday evening:

The weekend will only bring a small storm chance later Saturday and Saturday evening. Highs will range from 80 to 85, with lows in the 60s.

Monday’s weather forecast continues to include the possibility of a few clouds. With the solar eclipse happening in the afternoon, we can get by with a few clouds, but anything widespread will be bad news. Here’s the latest GFS cloud forecast:

Showers and storms will then increase Tuesday and Wednesday as our jet stream gets ready to take a big dip into the eastern half of the country. That allows for a much cooler-than-normal pattern to return:
