Good Sunday, everyone. The much anticipated January thaw is here, and it’s bringing along a few showers for the ride. That’s good news for those of us holding out for Mother Nature’s car wash to take care of our salty cars. 🙂
A few showers are possible out there today, as temps climb deep into the 50s. Local 60 degree temps may show up for areas getting in on a few rays of sunshine. Today is not a washout, but you can track the drops on our regional radar:
Winds increase on Monday as a strong cold front blows into town from the west. Rain will also increase throughout the day, and the models are spitting out some decent totals:
As the front swings through, a nice temperature drop is on the way Monday night into Tuesday. Temps may only reach the 30s for highs on Tuesday, but a northwesterly wind can produce snow showers and flurries. We even seeing the potential for some very light accumulations:
That’s not a big deal, but it’s likely a signal that, even in a setup that screams mild, winter has a lot left in the tank. Another signal of that comes next weekend. After another mild up for the end of the week, check out the trough digging in here:
That could be a big rain maker that switches to snow:
Again, the global signals suggest this should be a wall to wall mild pattern, but that does not look to be the case. When a real winter gets going, it is REALLY hard to totally reverse the trend.
Have a great Sunday and take care.
